OVERLANDING using PUBLIC TRANSPORT
If travelling in a group on an expedition truck is not for you then there is always the option of travelling in a small group using local transport with the services of a tour leader.
These trips are accommodated (apart from camping when in the national parks) and you travel on different forms of transport - from impressive train journeys through national parks in Kenya and Tanzania, to ferries down Lake Malawi, to 4x4's, taxis and buses. Travelling on public transport does allow more opportunities for local interaction and gives a different perspective than the overland trucks.
On the whole meals are not included (apart from when on Safari in the National Parks) but this gives you every opportunity to explore the local eateries and taste the regional flavours and get out and experience local life.
As with the expedition vehicle overland trips there is a local payment that is paid to the tour leader on arrival that covers transport and accommodation.
These trips allow for a local experience without the hassle of sorting out the logistics of local travel and could be described as 'middle ground' between travelling on a tour and travelling independently.
On our adventure tour finder we have a range of trips that will give you some ideas but we offer far more so please call us on 01273 320573 for details and suggestions.
