I feel entirely privileged to have visited both the High Arctic and Antarctic on what were the most exciting, rewarding and overwhelming trips I could ever have imagined.

Wildlife has always been my passion, so when the opportunity arose to take a small boat expedition round the Svalbard Archipelago in the High Arctic to search for the world's largest predator - I jumped at it. From my first distant sighting of the elusive polar bear, I was hooked. But it wasn’t just the bears that delighted; the High Arctic has so much more to offer – calving glaciers, walruses, extreme bird life - and a style of travel quite unlike anything I'd experienced before. My polar expedition cruising addiction had begun.

From then, my ambition to head off to Antarctica was solidly in place and I started saving! I knew that a short trip to the Antarctic Peninsula and back would be too much of a tease and not enough to fulfil my personal goal, so I aimed high: Antarctica, the Falklands & South Georgia.
