An ETA or Electronic Travel Authority is an electronically stored authority to travel to Australia for a short stay. It removes the need for a visa label or stamp in a passport.

If you are granted an ETA, the record of your authority to travel is stored on a computer system operated by Australian Immigration. Airlines have access to this system to confirm that you can enter Australia.

ETA' s are valid for multiple stays up to 3 months per stay, and valid for 12 months from the day it is approved (or until your passport expires, whichever is sooner).

Who can get an ETA?

You can get and enter Australia on an ETA if you meet the following conditions :

1. You hold a passport approved for ETA. UK passports are approved. A list of other passports on which we can process an ETA can be found in the application form below.
2. Your visit to Australia is for :
• Tourism
• Visiting friends or relatives
• Business meetings
• A conference or convention
• You are not allowed to work in Australia
• You must be in good health and have no criminal convictions
