Seasons in Australia are the opposite to those in the Northern Hemisphere.

Summer : December–February
Autumn : March–May
Winter : June–August
Spring : September–November

During Nov–Mar parts of the Northern Territory and Tropical North
Queensland have their wet season, but it doesn't rain all the time. Rain tends to comes in short heavy bursts, followed by sunny periods.

The once sleepy town of Cairns is fast emerging as Australia’s leading holiday destination. Whilst designer shops, gourmet restaurants and traditional “pubs” now line the Esplanade, Cairns still retains a distinctive, Tropical North Queensland atmosphere. The city sits amidst a magnificent backdrop of rugged rainforest mountainside and centres around a delightful marina which offers safe anchorage to the many yachts and catamarans which sail daily to the Great Barrier Reef.

The glorious untouched beaches of North Queensland lie just 20 minutes away from Cairns. Driving north, the small and exclusive retreat of Kewarra offers accommodation that blends naturally into the flora and fauna bordering beautiful Kewarra Beach. 6kms further along the coastline Palm Cove has a delightful village
atmosphere, with cobble-stoned streets fringed with coconut palms and complimented by long stretches of white sand. Continuing the scenic drive along the Marlin Coast you reach the picturesque village of Port Douglas, famous for its “Four Mile Beach” and boasting a marina resplendently lined with boutiques and harbourside cafes.

North of Port Douglas lies Cape Tribulation, a living museum of plant and animal species, it is one of the few remaining areas of undisturbed coastal rainforest in the world today. This beautiful World Heritage Listed National Park is known as the area where the Rainforest meets the Reef. Those exploring west of Cairns will discover the Atherton Tablelands with jungle edged volcanic lakes, waterfalls and the delights of Kuranda accessible by the famous
Kuranda Railway and the amazing Skyrail, the world’s longest gondola cableway.
