Climate in Brazil

The Brazilian summer (December to February) is the busiest time of year to visit, especially in February around Carnival. If you don’t mind the crowds, the experience is pretty electric and will definitely be a highlight of both Brazil and your Round the World trip. Temperatures in the north (from Rio up) reach temperatures close to 40 degrees at this time of year, and a more pleasant average of 25 during the rest of the year. To the South of Rio, summer temperatures average about 30 degrees, and in the winter it gets down to around 15 degrees. Tropical storms are common all over the country in the summer months.

Visa advice for Brazil

UK Passport holders do not need a visa to enter Brazil. Entry and exit stamps are free.

Health advice for Brazil

If you’re travelling in the north-east and remote areas of Brazil avoid buying food from street vendors, and peel raw fruit and vegetables. Only drink bottled water in all parts of the country. Yellow fever, malaria and dengue are problems in lowland areas, make sure you have the necessary vaccinations before you leave on your Round the World trip. When crossing from Bolivia into Brazil overland you will be asked to show your Yellow Fever certifícate.

Getting around Brazil

An excellent bus network links all major destinations Brazil, with companies undertaking mammoth 40+ hour bus trips in comfortable vehicles with on-board films and food service. This will feel pretty luxurious for many Round the World travellers. If you would prefer to cut down on travelling times, domestic Airlines provide cheap flights to most destinations in the country.
