Classic 4 day / 3 Night Inca Trail: £399 per person (does not include international flights)
Day 1:
An early start as you will be picked up at 5am to drive to the start point of the trek. Today’s walk is
mostly flat and we will enjoy views of an Inca Fortress and the Urubamba mountain range as we follow
the river to our first campsite at (3000m/9842ft). (L,D)
Day 2:
Today is the most challenging day of the trek as we climb to the highest pass on the trail at
4,200m/13779ft. We ascend through cloud forest on stone Inca steps, admiring the glaciers on the
other side of the valley, several varieties of orchids and hummingbirds. The views from the high pass
are rewarding, and after taking a break to catch our breath, we descend to a green valley where we will
enjoy a lunch stop. After lunch we tackle the next high pass at just under 4000meters, and will be
relaxing at the campsite by 5pm. (B,L,D)
Day 3:
The first stop on this morning’s trek is the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarca, where we will have a
guided tour before climbing up to the next high pass. From here we descend deeper into the cloud
forest down stone Inca steps, before reaching our final campsite at the impressive Inca site of Wiay
Wayna (2680m/8792ft). We will arrive at lunchtime and have a tour of the ruins and time to relax in the
afternoon. (B,L,D)
Day 4:
We start trekking shortly before dawn so that we can arrive at the Sun Gate to watch the sun rise over
Machu Picchu. After walking down into the site we will have a guided walking tour of the ruins followed
by time to explore independently. The train from Aguas Calientes and onward transport to Cusco is
included in all tours. (B)
