Climate in Chile
The summer in Chile is from November to March, and is the best time to visit Patagonia and the beaches around Buenos Aires. Be sure to bear this in mind if you’re planning your Round the World trip. The winter is from June to September. The ski season runs from August to October, but remember that southern Patagonia is sometimes hard to get to at this time of year as roads are blocked due to adverse weather conditions. Easter Island has a pleasant climate all year round.
Visa advice for Chile
UK Passport holders are granted a tourist visa upon arrival valid for stays of up to 90 days.
Health advice for Chile
Although food hygiene standards are high in Chile compared to other South American countries, you should still drink bottled water to ensure that you stay healthy on your Round the World trip.
Getting around Chile
There is good road transport along the length of the country and the Chilean airline LAN has a good network of airports meaning you can nip up and down between the desert and the glaciers in no time. As the Andes mountains provide a natural barrier between Argentina and Chile, difficult geography means that there are few crossings between the two countries.
