Cambodia is a wonderful country, filled with colonial heritage
and rich Khymer culture. It is a land of impressive temples, beautiful
countryside and untouched beaches, that is still haunted by years
of conflict in the 70s. Since Cambodia re-opened its borders
to visitors in the late 1980s, travellers have flooded in to the
country while the Khymer Rouge regime faded into its history.
The majestic Angkor Wat is one of the most famous ruin sites
in the world and really lives up to all the hype. It is simply
awe inspiring, and no trip to Cambodia would be complete without
it.
Phnom Penh is a fascinating, relaxed yet also bustling city,
once known as the Pearl of Asia. The combination of
French and Khymer influence means it has a kind of style and majestic
character that isnt found in other Asian capital cities.
Despite a huge growth in tourism over the past few decades, Khymer
traditions are still thriving and the experience of travelling
through this unique country is one you won't easily forget.
