Vancouver by Travel Nation's Karl

Vancouver is a trendy, cosmopolitan city that is surrounded by natural
beauty. Commonly known for its outdoor pursuits, the area provides every
kind of terrain. There aren't many destinations that are better for
downhill skiing, and that's just the beginning of the list of possible
outdoor activities that you can enjoy to the maximum whilst there. You
can also add Mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, and snowboarding
to the list but for me Skiing at Whistler will always be my favorite
past time.
Vancouver is home to Stanley Park, North America's second largest city
park. It is located downtown and open all the time, the park's cedar
trees and Douglas firs are stunning and just part of the beauty you
will find whilst wandering on one of the great walking trails. If youre
lucky you might even spot some of nature's creatures, Raccoons, beavers,
swans and bald eagles are just some of the animals that you can see
at Stanley Park, and the Children's Farm has a great petting zoo. As
for getting around Vancouver there is a great hop on hop off shuttle
bus which goes to all the major attractions.
On the west side of Vancouver, is Granville Island and I would highly
recommend a day visit which will give you time to explore the wonderful
Granville Island Public Market. You can buy everything from homemade
soaps to handcrafted jewelry here, and art galleries and restaurants
abound. Granville Island even has its own brewery, which served me well.
All in all Vancouver is a great city that deserves a place on any round
the world ticket or indeed as a holiday in its own right. I can safely
say that I will be going back for more!
