Awesome Fiji - beach

After my whistlestop tour of Fiji’s Main Island, the next stop was the Mananuca and Yasawa Islands, with Awesome Fiji

The Mananuca Islands are just off the coast of Fijis main Island and offer those beautiful crystal clear waters, palm fringed long sandy beaches and coral reefs that we all dream of. There are islands, villages and resorts plus fantastic snorkelling and swimming. The Yasawa Islands are equally amazing and although a bit further away it still only takes 3 hours by boat to the furthest Island.

The accommodation is aimed at backpackers and the guest houses (and hostels) are mostly owned and operated by the local Fijians, providing work for the local village and often for the neighbouring villages as well. The money generated is used not only for housing and schools but for a better quality of life generally. It’s a fantastic way to visit paradise affordably.

Relaxation is one of the main reasons to visit Fiji and while there is plenty of opportunity for chilling out on the beach there are whole host of activities available when the sun gets too much, white water rafting; trekking in the rainforests, amazing snorkeling/diving, local villages to visit, surfing, kayaking but to name a few. I did a dive at Coconut bay just walking in from the beach and only 10 metres from the shore there was the most fantastic reef, an amazing undersea world.

Awesome Fiji group tourEach Island had a welcome party of happy singing Fijians who were the most incredible hosts with their own special greeting, the most amusing being Queenie who split a coconut in half with his head!

As well as the beautiful surroundings we were also treated to some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted, fish fresh from the sea, coconut straight from the tree, all of the resort pride themselves on having the best food, so it’s easy to eat like a a king

After 6 days cruising around the Islands we spent our final night at Oarsmans Bay one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, it almost made it to my most favourite beach, almost but not quite (definitely in my top three).
